Man, I know that I haven't posted any comments in a while, but I just have to get this off of my chest.
At Hollywood video, where we go to rent movies, they have a new program called the "Powerplay" program. It is supposed to be some sort of incentive on saving money based on the number of movies you rent.
But, the problem is that they push this program every time we go in and try to check out. They will scan our card, then sit and count the number of movies we have rented that month, and then say, "you know, if you were in the Powersmlay program, you could have saved this much, blah, blah..."
Well, today, I had just about enough. So, when they gave Gill and I their speel, I said that I don't want to be part of the "system".
Then, he started to argue, saying that it is not a "system", it is a way of saving people money!
So, being the witty smart-ass that I am, I said, "Ya know, it's kinda funny how every time I come in here I feel like I am buying a used car".
In quick return, the manager behind him said, "Well, we don't get commission" and "don't come crying to me when you have to deal with late fees".
This pissed me off, because well, number one: she works for me and not the other way around, number two: I have a little more self-respect than to go bitch to her about some stupid late fees, and third: what in the hell happened to the customer is always right, biach!
I told them as we were leaving that we were probably just going to switch to redbox or something less intrusive.
Then I went home and e-mailed the company and let them know what happened.
Well, why should I even care too much, those poor bastards are part of a dying breed known as the "rental store". With better options becoming more common, they're going down baby, yeah!
And, congrats on the graduation from Law school Alan!
